An industry and government team comprised of personnel from Northrop Grumman Ship Systems, Lockheed Martin Maritime Systems and Sensors (combat system provider), and government representatives from the Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy recently concluded a thorough series of evaluations called Builder’s Trials for the second National Security Cutter (NSC), Waesche. On August 13, 2009, the Coast Guard Acquisition Directorate’s HH-60 Conversion and Sustainment Project, in conjunction with the Coast Guard Aviation Logistics Center (ALC) at Elizabeth City, N.C., delivered the fourth converted MH-60T Medium Range Recovery helicopter (tail number CG 6032). The Coast Guard's Acquisition Directorate has released the latest version of the Blueprint for Continuous Improvement Version 4.0, the strategic plan for the continuous improvement of the Acquisition Enterprise. After two years of the acquisition reform, the objective of the updated Blueprint for Continuous Improvement is to make organization and business process changes permanent so that the Acquisition Directorate continues to deliver the assets that meet the requirements of Coast Guard in the 21st century.

In the two years since the initial stand-up of the Acquisition Directorate (CG-9), the Coast Guard has undertaken a major effort to reform and modernize our acquisition enterprise. As a result, today we are in a much stronger position to address the myriad of challenges that confront our complex modernization and recapitalization programs. Read more>>
The U.S. Coast Guard and Northrop Grumman laid the keel for the future Coast Guard Cutter Stratton, the service's third National Security Cutter, at 1 p.m. Monday at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding's Gulf Coast shipyard, Pascagoula, Miss., ceremoniously marking the beginning of Stratton's construction. First lady Michelle Obama will serve as Stratton's sponsor. This is the first time a first lady has ever sponsored a Coast Guard cutter. Read more>>
