LT. GOV. O'BRIEN TO KICK OFF RACE TO THE TOP WORK GROUPS


Lt. Gov. Barbara O'Brien will speak at the first four sessions of the Race to the Top work groups tomorrow and Friday. The groups will be working to craft Colorado's proposal for a share of $4.35 billion in federal competitive grants to support education reform. The grant proposal is due in December, and Gov. Bill Ritter has asked Lt. Gov. O'Brien to spearhead the effort and work with Education Commissioner Dwight Jones in the bid to become one of the top-tier states to receive the funding.
