Visa and Police Registration

Visas

All travelers to Pakistan must obtain a valid visa prior to arrival.
Airport visas are not available. The U.S. Mission in Pakistan is unable
to assist in extending visas. Visitors / Residents may apply for extension
of stay at the following address:

Police Registration / Exit permits

Police Registration and exit permits are not required except from American
citizens of Indian origin who remain in Pakistan for 30 days or more. They
are required to register with the local Police Registration Branch. They
must also receive an exit permit prior to departure from Pakistan. The

American citizens who were born in India but had Pakistani citizenship
prior to their US citizenship do not require police registration as long
as they can produce their Pakistani National Identity Card.
