The Navajo AML Office in Shiprock, NM utilizes both TIPS and NTTP training to the maximum extent by encouraging employees to attend courses to improve and broaden their knowledge base. Once specific employee, Mr. Anselm John, Engineering Technician has been able to take 2-3 courses each year over the past few years to gain knowledge in GIS and engineering principles.
Results:
As of 2009, Anslem is now the Go-to-Man for mapping, surveying, GPS. /GIS application, and technical assistance in the Navajo AML Shiprock Field Office. He is proficient in numerous TIPS software that is provided by OSM such as ArcMap and GPS Pathfinder software. He collects data with GPS units and Topcon survey grade, then downloads data and generates maps. He compiled a user’s manual for the GPS unit for in-house use and training. All of his technical computer application skills he acquired by attending OSM Training and through hands on application.
