The Harrisburg U.S. Export Assistance Center is pleased to announce internship opportunities for local, enrolled college students in the Central Pennsylvannia region. If you are interested in participating in the export process, please take a moment to read the information below and fill out our application.
What kind of work can I expect as an intern?
You will work with the Director of the Harrisburg U.S. Export
Assistance Center on a range of international business projects
designed to give practical assistance to businesses in the
region. You will be asked to research questions and help in the
preparation of client proposals with market research and
evaluation. You will gain familiarity with export finance,
marketing, cultural issues, and rigorous analyses in a real-world
setting.
What requirements and qualifications do you look for in an
intern?
You must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to work a minimum of 20
hours per week during one of our intern periods of Fall, Winter,
or Summer. Students with a wide mix of skills have completed
successful internships with us, with undergraduate majors ranging
from business, cultural studies, languages, economics, political
science, anthropology, philosophy, and engineering. In short, we
look to your capabilities, motivation and attitude more so than a
specific major or grade point average when evaluating our
candidates. Some general qualifications include a strong and
consistent academic background, solid analytical skills, and the
ability to present information – written and orally – in an
organized, logical manner. We look for evidence of personal
motivation, resourcefulness, initiative and professionalism. This
intern program is on a volunteer basis and is unpaid, however
work-study eligibility can usually be applied to this program.
Academic credit can also be offered as arranged by your
educational institution.
