Core Nutrition Messages

Maximizing the Message: Helping Moms and Kids Make Healthier Food Choices

Cover of Maximizing the MessagesMaximizing the Message provides you with 16 audience-tested nutrition messages that address important dietary behaviors influencing the health of low-income mothers and children. We invite you to use the core nutrition messages and supporting content in your nutrition education efforts. Collaborating with other programs in your community to promote the core messages can take this effort to “speak with one voice” one step further.

This guide presents the core nutrition messages and supporting content that are specifically designed for use with the low-income mothers and children participating in Federal nutrition assistance programs.

Inside this guide, we have provided background information, a brief summary of the developmental process and research findings, as well as suggestions and tips for putting the core messages into practice. It also contains discusses potential  communication channels and evaluation.
