Services

The headquarters of the New York Region of the Social Security Administration is located in lower Manhattan in the Jacob Javits Federal Building. The regional headquarters is responsible for oversight and support of the administration of all Social Security programs in field offices, teleservice and processing centers, and state disability determination services in New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Most questions and concerns can be quickly resolved by contacting our 800 number or by visiting one of our field offices.  Important information is also accessible on our website, www.socialsecurity.gov.  However, staff in a number of our regional headquarters' divisions are available to provide information and discuss issues related to Social Security's policies and procedures.

Public Affairs Office

Our Public Affairs staff coordinates the distribution of public information through the media and through our network of field offices and teleservice centers. This staff also responds to important correspondence received in the regional office. This staff may be contacted by writing to:

Programs Center

Staff in the regional office Programs Center are responsible for coordination of the Retirement, Survivors and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs in the New York Region. This staff may be contacted by writing to:
