FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

Our principal responsibilities include setting the direction of Goddard’s technology-development program and managing the Center’s R&D investments to make sure they are well integrated, strategic, and opportunity driven. Check back in late-May for FY09 call for proposal information.

Internal Research and Development Program

Our flagship program is the Internal Research and Development (IRAD) program, which is a competed program. Since its creation in 2000, the program has invested in specific technologies that can leverage external funding in the near term to position the Center to win major mission and instrument proposal efforts in the future.

The resulting portfolio includes risk-reduction activities for mission and instrument opportunities, advanced concept development, and long-range, high-impact activities. These strategic investments are especially critical given the current highly competitive environment that exists Agency-wide.

Toolkits for IRAD Recipients

The Office of the Chief Technologist provides toolkits to assist principal investigators in writing and submitting required reports.

Other Goddard Funding Sources

Bid and Proposal resources are managed by the New Opportunities Office and are intended to cover expenses incurred in preparing, submitting, and supporting bids and proposals for potential new work. B&P resources may only be applied to activities that will develop information that is ultimately used in proposals. It includes civil service and support contractor labor, IDC, production, printing, graphics, technical editing, unique purchases and travel. It does not include funding for Co-Is.
