Mission
The Eastern Regional Security Office is a federal office focused on servicing our customers’ needs in all disciplines of security, ensuring that we maintain a strong security posture that is consistent with departmental security regulations and in compliance with National Security Policies.
Vision Statement
The vision of the Regional Security Officer is to maintain a multidisciplinary security team that is proactive, flexible, embodies the highest level of professionalism, supported by information technology, and viewed as a model for excellence by other federal agencies.
Overall Goal
The overall goal of the Eastern Region Security Office is to reduce or eliminate the security risk. The security risk is managed and minimized by assessing the level of Threat, Criticality and Vulnerabilities. Primary program focus are:
- Reduce the terrorism risks to DOC personnel and facilities.
- Reduce the espionage risks to DOC personnel, information, and facilities.
- Increase emergency preparedness for DOC operations.
Security Services
In the effort to reduce the security risk the Eastern Region Security Office provides policies, programs, and management as it supports:
- HSPD-12 PIV1 Credentialing – The Personnel Identification and Verification of personnel and the issuance of Identification credentials (ID Badges)
- Physical Security Program - Conducts Anti-Terrorism Risk Assessments
(ATRA) and inspections of DOC facilities.
- Information Collection and Analysis Program - Develops threat assessments and coordinates with intelligence activities.
- Personnel Security Program -
Process federal employee suitability and security investigations.
- Contractor Security Assurance Program -
Process background investigations on contractors associated with the department.
- National Security Information Program – Provide for the protection of classified national security information and controlled unclassified information; and is responsible for security awareness and education efforts, operational security and industrial security programs, and special access programs.
- Emergency Preparedness Plan Development – Assist
facility managers with the development of emergency operation plans and performs compliance reviews.
- Security Awareness- Provides
Security Education and Training presentations
and material to DOC employees.
