Official American and Russian Holidays for 2007

All our offices, the U.S. Embassy in Moscow and the U.S. Consulates in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok are closed on Saturday, Sunday and in observance of the following U.S. and Russian holidays.

When holidays fall on weekends, Russian authorities generally announce during the week prior to the holiday whether it will be celebrated on the previous Friday or the following Monday. Occasionally days off will be declared by the government to create a long weekend, particularly at Christmas.

Travelers should also be advised that little business is done from New Year's day to Orthodox Christmas and that many enterprises close during the period. The period from May 1 through May 9 is similar.

Please keep these details in mind when making your plans.
