Internship

The U.S Commercial Service in Egypt offers internship opportunities to current university students throughout the year.

Academic Year

Interns would be integrated within our dynamic team and provided with opportunities to develop their understanding of international trade and commerce. The U.S. Commercial Service assists U.S. companies entering the Egyptian market and helps Egyptian firms in their efforts to profit from their alliances with American companies either by representing American manufactures, utilizing American products, or through joint venture arrangements. To support these objectives, the office analyses information on the Egyptian market, facilitates contacts with Egyptian businesses, promotes US products in the Egyptian marketplace, and advocates in behalf of US business interests

Interns would be responsible for:

  • Assisting staff with the daily operations of the U.S. embassy commercial section.
  • Researching and writing international market insight reports, articles for the FCS newsletter and updating website information.
  • Providing support to staff in planning trade events locally including annual Made in USA show.
  • Aiding in the composition of USFCS Cairo publications including the Country Commercial Guide and the U.S. Business Directory.
  • Supporting staff in organizing International Buyer Program delegations and Gold Key Service visits.

In order to participate in this program, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Enrollment in a university
  • Fluency in English
  • Availability part time during the academic year (15-20 hours a week)
  • Good communication and computer skills

Summer: Marketing

The Commercial Service offers an opportunity for motivated and energetic marketing students to use the techniques and skills they study in the classroom first hand within a unique environment. Interns would be instrumental in the support our Internet Business Partnership Program by creating and implementing a marketing plan to expand the program's scope.

Interns would be responsible for:

  • Raising awareness among Egyptian service providers about the Internet Buyers Program.
  • Increasing participation in the program through direct marketing campaign.
  • Retaining current clients and maintaining the database.

In order to participate in this program, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Enrollment in a university
  • Fluency in both Arabic and English
  • Availability for at least 2 months (Sun-Thu 40hr week)
  • Good communication and computer skills

Selection

Your application must include:

  • Resume: Future goals, language skills, computer skills, past experience, academic accomplishments, citizenship and student status.

Payment

This internship is a volunteer service. Federal regulations prohibit financial compensation. An official letter of recommendation will be provided in recognition of your participation.
