The US Commercial Service Belgium offers internship opportunities throughout the year.
What you would be doing
The U.S. Commercial Service assists U.S. companies entering the Belgian market and helps Belgian firms in their efforts to profit from their alliances with American companies either by representing American manufacturers, utilizing American products, or through joint venture arrangements. To support these objectives, the office analyses information on the Belgian market, facilitates contacts with Belgian businesses, promotes US products in the Belgian marketplace, and advocates US business interests.
Interns assist Commercial Specialists by:
- conducting market research
- assisting companies seeking information
- organizing Trade Missions
- organization of and participation in Commercial Events
- administrative work
- hosting this website
Who is eligible
In order to participate in this program you must meet the following qualifications:
- enrollment in a school
- fluency in English language; French or Dutch skills helpful
- availablility for at least 3 months (Mon-Fri 40hr week)
- good communication and computer skills
Students of Business, International Relations, Economics, and Languages will benefit most from an internship at the Commercial Service. Students need to be American or European citizens.
Compensation
This internship is a volunteer service. Federal regulations prohibit financial compensation. An official letter of recommendation will be provided. Most Universities will award 3-6 credits for a completed internship.
