Advisory and Working Groups
The AIDS Research Advisory Committee (ARAC) meets three times a year to advise and make recommendations to the Director of NIAID and DAIDS in all areas of biomedical research on HIV/AIDS related to the mission of DAIDS. ARAC provides broad scientific, programmatic, and budgetary advice; reviews DAIDS progress and productivity; helps identify critical gaps in research; and reviews/approves all concepts for new initiatives.
The AIDS Vaccine Research Subcommittee (AVRS), formerly known as the AIDS Vaccine Research Working Group (AVRWG), assists NIH in developing a comprehensive research program aimed at expediting the discovery and development of an HIV/AIDS vaccine.
