NIAID currently supports basic, preclinical, and clinical vaccine research in a variety of areas:
- NIAID Division of Intramural Research Laboratories
Laboratories at the NIH campus that conduct basic biomedical research on HIV and the immune system.
- The Dale and Betty Bumpers Vaccine Research Center
Laboratories at the Vaccine Research Center (VRC) that conduct biomedical research to facilitate the development of HIV vaccines.
- HIV Vaccine Concepts Currently Under Evaluation
A list and description of vaccine designs currently being investigated by NIAID-supported researchers.
- Basic Science and Vaccine Discovery
NIAID is shifting resources to increase support of innovative basic research that will help answer fundamental questions needed to guide the development of future HIV vaccine candidates.
- Vaccine Preclinical Toxicology Testing
Information for HIV vaccine researchers on preclinical toxicology testing and preclinical product development to aid in translating research concepts into vaccine candidates suitable for human clinical trial testing.
- Animal Models
Information about different animal models used to study HIV/AIDS.
- Vaccine Assessment
Information about safety laboratories, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) processing laboratories, endpoint laboratories, and new technology/new assays.
