The U.S. Foreign Commercial Service at the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen has had an excellent experience working with student interns from Copenhagen Business School for the past three years. The internship not only provides valuable work experience in the arena of international trade, but also typically transfers 15 ECTS points towards the degree, in conjunction with CBS. We hereby announce an internship opening for the fall of 2009.

About us

Under the umbrella of U.S. Department of Commerce and the International Trade Administration, the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service's Copenhagen office is part of a global network of trade specialists dedicated to supporting U.S. commercial interests around the world. The agency's network includes more than 100 U.S. Export Assistance Centers throughout the U.S. and more than 150 overseas branches. Our Copenhagen office helps U.S. businesses export their goods and services to Denmark and assists Danish businesses to import goods from the U.S. Furthermore, the U.S. Commercial Service in Copenhagen supports the goals and objectives of the U.S. Ambassador to Denmark, advises key officers on commercial matters, and facilitates outreach programs for VIP and Congressional delegations.

About the internship

We offer an intern a dynamic and interesting workplace in a highly international environment with the opportunity for a great variety of tasks and networking opportunities. Examples of tasks include:

· Market analyses
· Partner searches and matchmaking
· Company background reports / due diligence
· Event coordination
· Preparation of ambassador memos and speeches
· Participation in relevant seminars and business events
· Outreach to Danish importers and agents, and recruitment to trade fairs in the U.S.
· Assistance with U.S. trade missions and congressional delegations
· Website maintenance
· Other administrative duties

About you

We are seeking an intern who is motivated to step right into our team and make a meaningful, substantive contribution. A successful candidate will be able to work independently, take initiative, and assume responsibility. Additionally, he or she must also be proficient in both oral and written Danish and English. We value creativity, open-mindedness, and a good sense of humor. Students who are in their second or third year of studies toward a bachelor degree and who meet these qualifications are encouraged to apply.

Practical details

Time period: September and five months ahead. The internship requires a commitment of 15-20 hours per week. Please submit your application in English, including CV, transcript, letters of recommendation, and a brief statement outlining your interest and qualifications to the Embassy by August 10, 2009.
