June 2009 Export Administration Regulations seminar in SLC

The Bureau of Industry and Security and the Utah District Export Council present:

Complying with U.S. Export Controls, June 25-26, 2009 - Salt Lake City, Utah

Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) export administration specialists are coming to Salt Lake City to provide a two-day, detailed seminar on the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) to exporting firms located in the Rocky Mountain West. All companies selling and delivering products to destinations outside of the United States are encouraged to attend.

The Complying with U.S. Export Controls program covers all the information exporters need to know in order to ensure they are in compliance with U.S. export licensing requirements on shipments of commercial goods to foreign destinations. BIS specialists will focus on what items and activities are subject to the EAR; the steps to take to correctly determine the export licensing requirements for item; how to determine a product's Export Control Classification Number (ECCN); when a product can be exported or reexported without applying for a license; export clearance procedures and record keeping requirements; and Export Management and Compliance Program (EMCP) concepts. Actual case studies will be used to apply this information. Presenters will also conduct a number of "hands-on" exercises that will teach participants how to apply the regulations to their own company's export activities.

This program is well suited for all companies, universities, research institutions, and individuals who need a comprehensive understanding of how to comply with U.S. export controls and is a unique opportunity to receive such in-depth training within the Rocky Mountain region.
