Certified Pesticide Applicators

These are Army or contract personnel who apply pesticides as part of their jobs. Army personnel are usually trained at Fort Sam Houston and subsequently DoD certified in accordance with an EPA-approved Plan. Contract personnel are trained and certified by the State pesticide regulatory agency in the State where the installation is located.

Training required for initial certification: Pest Management Certification Course (80-120 hours)

Pest Management Coordinators

Duties for coordinators are primarily administrative reporting requirements, preparation of pest management plan, etc - they will never apply or recommend what products to apply (if they do, they MUST be DoD Certified).

Training required: Pest Management Coordinator's course (8 hours)

Pest Management Quality Assurance Evaluators (PMQAE)

These personnel monitor and evaluate the performance of contracts for pest management services.
