- Sponsored legislation that was signed into law renewing import restrictions in the Burmese Freedom and Democracy Act.
- Enacted into law legislation awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi in recognition of her courageous and unwavering commitment to peace, nonviolence, human rights, and democracy in Burma.
- Passed legislation through the House of Representatives expressing condolences and sympathy to the people of Burma who were affected by Cyclone Nargis in May 2008.
Crowley on China
- Appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2007 to chair the U.S.-China Interparliamentary Exchange, which holds biannual meetings between the National People’s Congress and the United States House of Representatives on major policy initiatives.
