From the beginning of its operations, VEF has received excellent support from various institutions and organizations in both the United States and Vietnam.
In the United States, among the major relationships, VEF has worked closely with the
National Academies (NA) in developing the selection process for VEF Fellowships, which includes selecting suitable and highly qualified scientists to go to Vietnam to conduct the oral exam and interview candidates as well as give seminars and workshops. The
National Academies also assists VEF in establishing and developing various special projects and programs, including the organization of the Annual Conference for VEF Fellows. Besides the NA, VEF has developed close relationships with U.S. universities interested in VEF Fellows by establishing agreements with leading institutions. This consortium of universities, called the
VEF Alliance, presently consists of over 100 top-level institutions. In addition to university partnerships, in an effort to bolster the internal S&T capacity in Vietnam, VEF has worked with the
Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) and the
Scientific Initiative Group (SIG) in Princeton, N.J., to help Vietnam establish Centers of Excellence in S&T. Furthermore, the
Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC), another important partner, has co-sponsored seminars and conferences in Vietnam.
In Vietnam, VEF has established a wide network of relationships with Vietnamese institutions and organizations that are high quality and have established reputations in S&T fields. These entities, which are typically universities, research institutes, and government agencies, include the
Vietnamese Academy of Science & Technology (VAST), the
Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the
Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), and the Vietnam National University (VNU) in
Hanoi and
Ho Chi Minh City. Not only do these institutions and organizations serve as a major source of VEF Fellows, but they also serve as host institutions for VEF seminars, workshops, and short courses. They also provide Vietnamese panelists for the oral exam portion of the VEF Fellowship selection process.
VEF highly appreciates the assistance and involvement of these and numerous other organizations and institutions in Vietnam and in the United States that help VEF carry out its mission.
