Karina Chupina
"Learn, enjoy what you have learned, and share with others…" Following this maxim, Karina Chupina seeks to inspire people with disabilities to overcome obstacles and live life to the fullest. Hailing from St. Petersburg, Russia, Chupina traveled to Tecumseh, Michigan in 1996 to take part in the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) program.

Hüseyin Karabey
As one of four boys growing up in a gritty working-class neighborhood in Istanbul, Turkey, Hüseyin Karabey used to be upset that experiences he lived and witnessed were never represented in movies. With his latest acclaimed film, "My Marlon and Brando," the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) alumnus is seeing his boyhood dreams become reality on silver screens the world over.

Ahmed Aboutaleb
Ahmed Aboutaleb made history on January 5, 2009, when he was installed as mayor of Rotterdam, becoming the first Muslim, first Moroccan, and first foreign-born Dutch citizen to become the mayor of a large city in the Netherlands. Aboutaleb was born in Morocco, and came to the Netherlands at the age of 15.

Austrian historian and ethnologist, Dr. Valeria Heuberger, has taken a keen interest in the roles that Muslims have played in both the Austrian and U.S. militaries. That interest, which spans from the First World War to the present-day, has led Heuberger down a path of research comparing and contrasting approaches to diversity on two continents.

Hailing from the hills of Tetovo, an ethnically diverse town in northwest Macedonia named after the legendary hero Teto famous for clearing the city of snakes, modern-day hero Xhane Kreshova benefits the community by empowering women and improving women's health.

Dr. Samia Al-Amoudi
As an obstetrician-gynecologist and former Vice Dean of the College of Medicine and Allied Science at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Dr. Samia Al-Amoudi diagnosed her own breast cancer at a very advanced stage in March 2006. Despite her own medical career, she struggled to gain confirmation of the diagnosis and treatment options.
