Well said, Miriam. NIFL provides a great service to us through the
listserv, and it does not speak well of this effort to see these "battles,"
if you will, on this extremely valuable resource.

It is important--no--mandatory that as educators and policy makers we have
an open and honest exchange in a democratic forum. But there is an implied
contract between all of us to maintain a professional, and therefore useful,
atmosphere.

Thanks for reminding us, Miriam.

either for that matter) where folks call other folks crybabies and attack
them personally for their views. It's not and issue of censorship: it's of
keeping someone from yelling fire in a crowded theatre when there's no fire.
Causing harm to a person emotionally is wrong and offensive. Let's end this
discussion now and be professional, respectful, and helpful.

person's inappropriate comments continued, NIFL exercised its prerogative to
remove that person from the list.

Why is the list still being censored anyway? You don't moderate, but you
censor? Sounds fairly repressive to me.
