Awareness

Early in the development of the U.S. Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration Nevada Site Office OPSEC Program, it became evident that a high percentage of recommended OPSEC countermeasures involved OPSEC awareness in some manner. Therefore, OPSEC awareness has been, and will continue to be, a high priority effort in the U.S. Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration Nevada Site Office OPSEC program.

The “DOGS of OPSEC” is an awareness campaign designed to target all NSO employees and contractors with a multi-faceted campaign that would clearly define what OPSEC is, what the consequences could be if not exercised, and best practices that are both cost-effective and easy to execute. We coined the term “DOGS of OPSEC” as a signature phrase that all federal and contract employees could easily recognize and relate to. The DOGS of OPSEC awareness program includes videos, posters, articles, reminders, the Canine Idol poster contest, Shred Days, and three levels of employee recognition for supporting the NSO OPSEC program.
