The follow on-going investigations are being provided expert digital forensics services by the RCFL Program.

Chicago RCFL

  December 18, 2008: Chicago RCFL Supporting Blagojevich Investigation On 12/9/08, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich and his Chief of Staff were arrested on federal corruption charges. The Chicago RCFL is providing digital forensics support of the federal investigation – read the press release from U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald’s office.

Intermountain West RCFL

  Intermountain West RCFL (IWRCFL) Supports Investigation Involving Sexual Exploitation February 17, 2009 - The Utah Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force arrested Jonathan Toole, 26, on suspicion of sexual exploitation and evading a police officer. Before being arrested, Toole attempted to evade police during a high-speed chase through a crowded residential area. Click here for the full story.

New Jersey RCFL

  December 18, 2008: Former Assemblyman Indicted Neil M. Cohen, a former New Jersey assemblyman, was indicted on charges of official misconduct and for allegedly using computer equipment in his government office to view and print images of child pornography. Northwest RCFL

  December 18, 2008: Northwest RCFL Mourns Officers' Deaths - Assists Investigation Two suspects were arrested and charged with aggravated murder of two Oregon police officers. The Northwest RCFL is supplying digital forensics expertise to the multiagency investigation – click here for the full story.   November 5, 2008: Camp Counselor Information Sought - The Washington County Sheriff's Office (WCSO), a participating agency in the Northwest RCFL (NWRCFL) is asking the public for information about an Aloha, Oregon man who allegedly showed pictures of child pornography to youngsters at a Salem computer camp where he worked as a counselor. Rocky Mountain RCFL

  2008: Laptop Computer Offers Clues in Missing Persons Investigation— Missing persons Jennifer Marcum, Kaysi McLeod, Terry Kimball, and Leann Emry had but one thing in common – Scott Lee Kimball. Kimball, authorities believe, is connected to their disappearance, and is jailed on unrelated charges. Only remains of Kaysi McLeod, 19, have been found. The RMRCFL examined Kimball’s laptop computer and located information about three of the four missing persons, along with violent images of sexually related acts. The investigation is ongoing.

San Diego RCFL

  December 18, 2008: Teenager Accused of Murder Will Face Charges as an Adult- A 15-year old girl accused of killing her mother will stand trial as an adult. The San Diego RCFL is supporting the investigation – click here for the full story.
