Professional and scientific positions for the Secret Service involve work that requires knowledge in a field of science or learning. This is acquired through education or training equivalent to a bachelor's or higher degree with major study in a specialized field. An individual in a professional or scientific occupation is required to exercise discretion and judgment in applying a scholarly body of knowledge to various subject matters. The use of these skills results in interpretations and the development of improved data, materials, techniques and procedures to obtain desired results.

Top Secret Clearance
Applicants must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance. Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screening and extensive background investigation. Some positions require the completion of a pre-employment polygraph examination.
