What are podcasts?
A podcast is a collection of audio or video content that's powered by subscription software called RSS (Really Simple Syndication). Just like a magazine automatically gets delivered to your home when you subscribe, a podcast delivers new content directly to you -- without you having to check on the Web site for updates.
How do I subscribe?
You need the following items:
1) Podcasting software: There are any number of free programs that you can download to play your podcasts -- iTunes and iPodder are the most common.
2) The URL of your podcast's RSS feed
On our podcast pages, you'll see a . By clicking on this, you view the raw content of the RSS feed for JPL podcasts ( http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/multimedia/podcast/podfeed.xml ). Most software will ask you for the URL of the podcast to which you'd like to subscribe. To provide this, click the icon and copy the URL that appears at the top. Note: some software, such as iTunes, won't prompt you for the URL but will instead list podcasts in a directory on their site.
