5/11/2009 CARNEY DEMANDS FRAUD ENFORCEMENT, TRANSPARENCY, AND ACCOUTABILITY
 Washington, D.C. - Continuing his commitment to fiscal conservatism, consumer protection, and financial reform; Congressman Carney worked with a broad bi-partisan majority to pass the Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act by a vote of 367 - 59.  The Bill significantly strengthens the enforcement and prosecution of mortgage and corporate fraud by providing funding and tools to help law enforcement pursue and prosecute fraud.  The legislation will also establish a bipartisan commission to investigate the causes of the current financial crisis and the ensuing recession. ...more»

5/8/2009 CARNEY: $36 MILLION ON THE WAY FOR SOCIAL SECURITY RECIPIENTS AND DISABLED VETERANS
 Washington, D.C. -- Today, Congressman Carney announced that the $250 payments for Social Security and SSI recipients, which were provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will be delivered during the month of May.  The recipients in Northeast and Central Pennsylvania will receive roughly $36 million. ...more»

5/8/2009 CARNEY CONTINUES REFORM FIGHT TO PROTECT CONSUMERS
 Washington, D.C.—Today, Congressman Carney voted to stop the irresponsible mortgage loan practices that brought about the current housing crisis.  Carney worked with a broad bipartisan majority in the House (300-114) to pass H.R. 1728, the Mortgage Reform and Predatory Lending Act of 2009.  The measure will ensure that mortgage lenders make loans that benefit consumers by prohibiting them from misstating a client’s income in order to qualify them for a higher cost loan and imposing penalties for lenders who employ such practices.  ...more»
