FOREWORD

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Physical Security Handbook (440-2-H) supplements Survey Manual (SM ) 440.2, Physical Security Program, by providing a compact source of basic information to assist responsible managers, designated officials, property officers, and security officers in understanding and establishing appropriate physical security measures necessary to protect personnel, real and personal property, and information. The guidance in each chapter can and should be tailored to fit the particular needs of each USGS activity.
