How to Participate ›› Vegetation Modeling ›› Overview Quantitative state-and-transition biophysical settings (BpS) models are being created for the LANDFIRE Project through a series of expert workshops. At these workshops, vegetation and fire ecology experts are asked to create models describing the BpS for their area using the Vegetation Dynamics Development Tool (VDDT) – available at www.essa.com/vddt. Each model includes a description document, which describes the geographic range, characteristic vegetation, and disturbance processes for the BpS. An extensive peer review process following model development garners additional expert engagement and helps to refine the models. Completed models are used to help map BpS, succession classes, and fire regime groups. Learn more about attending vegetation modeling workshops or reviewing vegetation models.
