Office of Information Management
(Reports to the Office of Resource Management)
Mission and Functions
Mission
The Office of Information Management provides a broad
range of information technology services in support
of the Office of Health, Safety and Security (HSS).
Functions
-
Develops internal management systems and assists
HSS comply with information technology statutes,
regulations, and policies. Counsels and advises
HSS managers on information technology requirements,
capabilities, and limitations. Develops and proposes
procedures for program implementation assisting
in the canvassing of sources and candidates to
acquire technology and in the programmatic steps
required to affect its use.

Manages special programs such as implementation
of new internet and intranet-based programs, classified
processing, eGov initiatives and collaboration/workflow
systems.

Manages the HSS enterprise architecture; certification
and accreditation of software systems; maintenance
of exhibit 300's and exhibit 53's; and the implementation
of other information technology requirements.
Ensures the operations, maintenance, and security
of HSS Department-wide databases and systems in
support of the HSS missions in health, safety,
and security.

Manages technology-related organizational change
and advises HSS managers of the potential impact
on operational efficiencies, resource utilization,
and relationships to other major organizational
components. Recommends alternatives, if appropriate.

Evaluates emerging management technologies, and
analyze methods, processes, procedures, and functions
to improve organizational effectiveness and business
processes.

Serves as the central liaison to the Office of
the Chief Information Officer for information
technology deployment and operations within HSS.
Manages the HSS web presence, the HSS cyber security
program, and serves as the implementing agent
within HSS for the DOE Common Operating Environment
(COE).

Assists HSS program offices with the Federal
Managers Financial Integrity Act (FMFIA) reporting
requirements and Quality Assurance implementation
programs.

Manages the operation of the Nuclear Materials
Management and Safeguards System (NMMSS).

Monitors information reporting processes and
data quality in NMMSS that might negatively impact
Departmental nuclear material accounting and inventory
to improve data quality and avoid safeguards problems.

Oversees the development and implementation of
the DOE standardized site core nuclear materials
accountability system software product (LANMAS).
