CEA Releases New Report on Measuring Recovery Act Progress Creating, Saving Jobs

The Council on Economic Advisers today released "Estimates of Job Creation from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009," a report detailing how the Administration will measure progress creating and saving jobs under the Recovery Act.
Work began on the methodology in the earliest days of the Administration and within days of the Recovery Act being signed into law, Chairman Romer met with top economists from numerous agencies to develop a simple, conservative and accurate model for measuring progress. The model pairs a macro approach based on projected and actual spending with direct reporting by recipients to improve the level of accuracy.

HUD Makes Nearly $1 Billion Available in Recovery Act Funds to Improve Public Housing

Grants will help the elderly and disabled, boost energy efficiency and create jobs
WASHINGTON - U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Donovan today announced that HUD is offering nearly $1 billion to make substantial improvements to thousands of public housing units nationwide. The Public Housing Capital Funds being offered today are provided through The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act) and are designed to help selected public housing authorities improve the quality of their housing stock, promote energy efficiency and create jobs.

NSF To Help Improve Academic Research Facilities

$200 million funding provided under American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
The National Science Foundation (NSF) today announced a new solicitation in a program to fund repairs and renovations at the nation's academic research facilities. The grant program is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

NSF Announces $200 Million Funding for Research Instrumentation

Funding is provided under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
The National Science Foundation today announced a special opportunity for funding projects that strengthen the research infrastructure in the nation's science and engineering research and education institutions. Funding of $300 million was provided for the Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) program through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), signed into law by President Barack Obama in February 2009.
