Help Center Users Take Advantage of Tax Credits and Make Sure They Are Not Getting Short-Changed on Their Tax Refund

 Information by State
 Print version

As the 2008 tax year season kicks off, Neighborhood Networks center staff members are encouraged to learn more about the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and help center users determine if they qualify for the tax credit. The IRS Web site delivers a wealth of information about the EITC, and offers the EITC Assistant, an online tool that enables individuals to quickly and easily determine if they qualify for the tax credit.

Also, now is a good time to share information about the Child Tax Credit (CTC). This credit allows eligible individuals to claim a maximum of $1,000 for each qualifying child. More information on the CTC and eligibility requirements can be found on the IRS Web site.
