Program and Project Management (FAC-P/PM)

This certification program establishes the necessary competencies, training, and experience requirements for program and project managers in civilian agencies to become certified to manage the acquisition-related aspects of projects.

FAC-P/PM will recognize three levels of certification—entry/apprentice, mid level/journeyman and senior/expert. Each of the three certification levels has experience, training, and other development activity requirements. The FAC-P/PM certification is not a step certification meaning that individuals may be certified at the senior/expert level without having been certified at the mid-level/journeyman and at the entry/apprentice levels. Likewise, to receive a mid level/journeyman FAC-P/PM certification, an individual does not have to hold an entry/apprentice level certification.

OFPP Policy Memo on FAC-P/PM
The Office of Federal Procurement Policy (OFPP) policy memorandum (PDF 188KB) dated April 25, 2007 announced the establishment of a structured development program for program and project managers identified as the Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers (FAC-P/PM).
