SENIOR EXECUTIVE SERVICE (SES)


GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) QUALIFICATIONS

Qualification Requirements: Candidates must meet the qualifications as stated in Office of Personnel Management Qualifications Requirements Standards Handbook. Copies of these standards are located in local Federal Government personnel offices. Candidates must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade.

Specialized Experience: Experience which is in or directly related to the duties of the position and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledges, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.


APPLICATION PROCESS INSTRUCTIONS:

This NASA OIG vacancies are filled through NASA STARS, an automated Staffing and Recruitment System. Applicants must submit a resume and supplemental data to be considered for this position. If the position requires specific college coursework as identified in the "Qualifications" section of this announcement, in addition to providing your degree information on your resume, you must also list specific courses you have completed that meet the educational requirements of the position. GENERAL INFORMATION:

Individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Qualified candidates will be assigned to one of three quality levels based on the degree to which their competencies meet the duties required. For the purpose of the Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) and the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP), candidates rated in the top quality level are considered well-qualified.

Federal employees seeking CTAP/ICTAP consideration must indicate their eligibility when applying for a position. NASA's resume builder requests applicants to identify their eligibility under the Supplemental Information section. If the individual is selected for the position, they must be prepared to submit proof that they meet the requirements for CTAP/ICTAP. This includes a copy of the agency notice, a copy of their most recent Performance Rating and a copy of their most recent SF-50 noting current position, grade level, and duty location.

Current Federal employees must meet time in grade and three month after competitive appointment restrictions by the closing date of the announcement.


SENIOR EXECUTIVE SERVICE (SES) QUALIFICATIONS

Qualification Requirements: Candidates must demonstrate possesion of responsible experience to perform the duties described above. Normally, this level of experience would have been gained at or above the GS/GM-15 level or its equivalent. Candidates must demonstrate experience in the managerial areas noted below and the technical areas identified in the vacancy announcement:

MANAGERIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1. Leading Change. Encompasses the ability to develop and implement an organizational vision that integrates key national and program goals, priorities, values, and other factors. Inherent in it is the ability to balance change and continuity - to continually strive to improve customer service and program performance within the basic Government framework, to create a work environment that encourages creative thinking, and to maintain focus, intensity, and persistence, even under adversity.
  • 2. Leading People. Involves the ability to design and implement strategies that maximize employee potential and foster high ethical standards in meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals.
  • 3. Results Driven. Stresses accountability and continuous improvement. It includes the ability to make timely and effective decisions and produce results through strategic planning and implementation and evaluation of programs and policies.
  • 4. Business Acumen. Involves the ability to acquire and administer human, financial, material, and information resources in a manner that instills public trust and accomplishes the organization's mission, and to use new technology to enhance decision-making.
  • 5. Building Coalitions/Communication. Involves the ability to explain, advocate, and express facts and ideas in a convincing manner and to negotiate with individuals and groups internally and externally. It also involves the ability to develop an expansive professional network with other organizations and to identify the internal and external politics that impact the work of the organization.

  5. Reinstatement eligibility
  6. Highest Federal civilian grade held (also give job series and dates held)

  8. Work experience RELATED to the job applied for in the following format: Job title, duties and accomplishments, employer's name and address, supervisor's name and work phone, starting and ending dates, hours per week, and salary.
  9. Indicate if we may contact your current supervisor.
  10. Provide a list of training, skills, honors, awards, and membership in professional/honor societies that are RELATED to the job for which applying.

Applicants should provide, as a supplement to the above, a statement addressing work examples demonstrating possession of each of the Managerial and Technical Qualifications. The same example can be used for more than one Managerial and Technical Qualification. The supplement for Managerial Qualifications should not exceed 10 pages.
