Involvement in the Initiative
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Federal
Reserve Board (FRB), and the Office of the Comptroller of the
Currency (OCC) are three of the Federal Financial Institutions
Examination Council (FFIEC) Agencies. Under the guidance of the
FFIEC Reports Task Force, these three agencies (Call Report Agencies)
formed a steering committee to collectively manage the development
and operation of the Central Data Repository (CDR). The CDR is
a centralized resource for users and providers of the financial
institution data. It is expected to facilitate a more-efficient
regulatory reporting process by enhancing the methods used to
collect, validate, process, and distribute Call Report data.
The CDR Steering Committee has created working groups to facilitate
communication with a range of data providers and data users, including
depository institutions, Call Report software vendors, Agency
staff, other banking regulators, XBRL developers, and the public.
The construction and operation of the CDR entail the use of new
and innovative technologies. The CDR Steering Committee has devised
a series of tests to ensure that the CDR is compatible with existing
stakeholders' systems and that it fully meets the demands of the
financial industry for more timely, accurate, and usable information.
