Executive Order 13329: Encouraging
Innovation in Manufacturing |

On February 24, 2004, President Bush signed Executive
Order 13329, Encouraging Innovation in Manufacturing. This Executive
Order was implemented to help ensure that Federal agencies properly
and effectively assist the private sector in its manufacturing innovation
efforts.
The NASA SBIR and STTR Programs support Executive Order 13329, Encouraging
Innovation in Manufacturing, through the following actions:
- Provide data to SBA for classification of selections with manufacturing
innovations
- Brief Agency management to ensure awareness of the importance
of
manufacturing on NASA's mission and the Nation's economy
- Brief topic and subtopic developers regarding the importance
of
Executive Order 13329 and its inclusion in the annual solicitations
- Include discussion of the Executive Order in solicitations
- Include discussion of the Executive Order in presentations to
the public
- Support the National Science & Technology Council (NSTC)
Interagency
Working Group actions enhancing manufacturing with a designated
representative and active participation.
- Highlight SBIR and STTR success stories that enhance the nations'
manufacturing capability
A plan focused on the above actions was submitted to the Small
Business Administration, the implementing agency for the Executive
Order.
