HHS names health IT panelists

The Department of Health and Human Services today named 25 members of two health information technology committees established by the recent American Recovery & Reinvestment Act. Hospital members of the Health IT Standards Committee, which will recommend standards and certification criteria for electronic health information exchange, include committee chair Jonathan Perlin, M.D., Hospital Corporation of America; co-chair John Halamka, M.D., Harvard Medical School; Christopher Chute, M.D., Mayo Clinic College of Medicine; Martin Harris, M.D., Cleveland Clinic Foundation; Stanley Huff, M.D., Intermountain Healthcare; Elizabeth Johnson, R.N., Tenet Health; Judy Murphy, R.N., Aurora Health Care; and James Walker, M.D., Geisinger Health System. In addition, HHS named three members of the Health IT Policy Committee, which will recommendpolicies and standards for a nationwide health information technology infrastructure.
