Complying with environmental regulations is vital to protecting public health and the environment. Enforcement deters those who might otherwise profit from violating the law, and levels the playing field with environmentally complaint companies. EPA is responsible for assuring compliance with and enforcing environmental regulations and may delegate some of this responsibility to state and tribal governments.
