Saving
Searches
You regularly search for citations to articles about phototherapy and diabetic neuropathy. Let's use My NCBI to save the search strategy and
set up an automatic e-mail update.
Demonstration
Click the steps to run the demonstration.
- Step 1: First
run your search in PubMed. Enter phototherapy diabetic neuropathy in the search box and click Go.
- Step 2: From the Results
screen, click on the Save Search link to the right
of the query box. PubMed will
open a separate window to start the saving process. (If you
are not
already signed into My NCBI, you will
be prompted to do so.) You can edit the name of the search
if you wish. This name will be part of the Subject line of
automatic
e-mail updates.
- Step 3: When finished, click Save. If you do not want e-mail updates you are done and you can return to PubMed [See
Manually Updating Searches]. If you do want updates, move on to:
- Step 4: Select how
often you want updates, the format of the e-mail and the records, and the number of items you would like included in the message. You can use a link in the e-mail that takes you to the total update results
in
PubMed.
If you want to know when an update retrieved no citations, select "Send even when there aren't any new results."
Finally, you can include additional text if you wish.
- Step 5: Once you have made all
your selections, click Save. This search will now be included on your list of Saved Searches in My NCBI.
