Special-Use Authorization

The Forest Service issues Special Use Authorizations to permit and regulate a variety of activities within the NRA. These activities might be things such as an outfitting and guide service or recreation events such as a one day bike ride or one day horse ride. The information provided here will help you understand the Special Use Authorization process. Please contact the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area if you plan to apply for a Special Use Authorization.

All proposals for the use of the National Forest under a Special Use authorization require a pre-application meeting. If you plan to submit a Special Use Request, please contact the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area.
