Southern Regional Extension Forester - Electronic forest resources library.

National Resources Inventory - The National Resources Inventory (NRI) is a statistically based sample of land use and natural resource conditions and trends on U.S. nonfederal lands. It is the most comprehensive database of its kind ever attempted anywhere in the world.

USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service Social Sciences Institute - This web site will take you to the National Centers, Cooperating Scientists, National Institutes, and Regional Teams and Centers developed by the NRCS. The sites listed here include the National Agroforestry Center, which is a cooperative effort between the Forest Service and NRCS. These Centers and Institutes develop and transfer practical technology to assist in the productive, equitable, and environmentally sound use of our global natural resources.

Forestry and Landowner Associations

Forest Landowners Association, Inc. - was formed to provide a voice for Southern forest landowners on national and regional issues. It follows every piece of legislation appearing before Congress that affects forestry.

Society of American Foresters - is the national scientific and educational organization representing the forestry profession in the United States. Founded in 1900 by Gifford Pinchot, the first Chief of the Forest Service, it is the largest professional society for foresters in the world.

American Tree Farm System - is a program of the American Forest Foundation (AFF). AFF recognizes sustainable family forests with a distinctive green sign. Over 65,000 families are enrolled in the program.

Land Trusts

American Farmland Trust - works to stop the loss of productive farmland and to promote farming practices that lead to a healthy environment.

The Land Trust Alliance - helps people protect land through the nation's land trusts.

The Conservation Fund - seeks sustainable conservation solutions for the 21st century, emphasizing the integration of economic and environmental goals.

The Nature Conservancy - preserves plants, animals, and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.
