Would you like to take a trip of discovery into the mountains near Medford and Ashland?

The Siskiyou Loop is an 85-mile long drive that will take you from the Medford-Ashland area -- via Jacksonville and the equally historic Applegate Valley -- up along the scenic crest of the rugged Siskiyou Mountains, and return you to Interstate Five and the Rogue River Valley.

This information (769 KB PDF) provides travel directions and it points out the major features along the way.

ROGUE RIVER AREA

Northeast of Medford, the scenic route along Highways 62 and 230 provides access to the spectacular beauty of the Wild and Scenic Upper Rogue River, Crater Lake National Park and popular recreation developments at Diamond Lake on the Umpqua National Forest. Less than one hour's drive southwest of Medford is Applegate Lake, a 988-acre reservoir which offers swimming, hiking, camping, picnicking, fishing and boating in the dramatic setting of the Siskiyous.

Near the tiny town of Butte Falls natural Oregon still thrives broken only by a few roads. The Butte Falls Discovery Loop Tour provides a scenic, self-guided driving tour opportunity to see and appreciate Oregon as it was ... and is.

SISKIYOU AREA

Road 1205, starting near Brookings and leading to the Bomb Site Trail in the Wheeler Creek Research Natural Area provides a scenic drive through the Forest. Several campgrounds are located along this road or connecting roads.
