Improving conditions and ecosystem services in the Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley (LMAV), perhaps the most ecologically degraded region in the United States, is the focus of a cooperative conservation project that is being coordinated by Elizabeth Estill, Deputy Chief of the USDA Forest Service.  Estill has been encouraged by “so many different organizations and so many individuals who are committed to making a difference.”  She is facilitating plans for a number of workshops, conferences, and meetings that, among other things, will produce a framework for restoring the LMAV.   More .  .  .
