Self–Assessment Survey Helps to Increase Efficiency and to Maintain the
Consistency of Program Operations
Ethics officials developed a self-assessment survey to evaluate the
effectiveness of the agency’s ethics program and to ensure that the program
is meeting the agency’s needs. Questions focused on determining
respondents’ awareness of agency ethics officials and criminal ethics
statutes, as well as on determining if respondents were satisfied with the
training and advice provided by ethics officials. The use of self-
assessments, such as surveys, is a valuable internal control that helps to
increase efficiency and to maintain the consistency of operations
throughout an ethics program.
