About the Forum on State & Tribal Toxics Actions (FOSTTA)
The Forum on State and Tribal Toxics Action (FOSTTA) is a partnership between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics (OPPT) and state and tribal leaders to increase understanding and improve collaboration on toxics and pollution prevention issues among the states, tribes, and EPA.
FOSTTA, created in 1991, is currently operated under a cooperative agreement with the Environmental Council of the States in cooperation with the National Tribal Environmental Council. FOSTTA convenes these environmental and health leaders twice each year to examine, among themselves and with Agency officials, the nature and direction of the Agency's chemical and prevention programs. The four FOSTTA projects are Chemical Information and Management, Pollution Prevention, Toxics Release Inventory, and Tribal Affairs. FOSTTA members represent their own individual viewpoints on these issues, which do not necessarily reflect the official positions of their respective state or tribe. The FOSTTA Gram is a newsletter developed by EPA and ECOS and is distributed to FOSTTA members, EPA staff, and others.
