American Investment Helps Kosovo Rebuild, Rehabilitate
Residents of Zubin Potok gathered to celebrate the opening of their renovated Town Hall building at an opening ceremony on February 1. The day also marked the finalization of another project in this municipality—the rehabilitation of an important roadway linking the center of town with the highway. Municipal leaders and citizen groups jointly identified both as key community priorities and signed on to USAID-supported repair projects.
These projects are part of the Community Enhancement and Development Program (CED), a USAID initiative implemented in partnership with International Organization for Migration. CED helps improve living and working conditions in North Mitrovica and Zubin Potok through specific
community infrastructure upgrades. The total cost for the rehabilitation of the old Town Hall building and the road and sidewalks was $176,856.
"The US Government is proud to have contributed over $175,000 dollars to this effort—a significant amount of funding and a symbol of our desire to help all the people of Kosovo, north and south, east and west, enjoy a better life. There will be more such projects in Zubin Potok and elsewhere in the northern municipalities, as well as in Serb-majority areas in southern Kosovo," said Tina Kaidanow, US Chief of Mission, who joined Zubin Potok major Slavisa Radosavljevic in unveiling a plaque at the refurbished Town Hall.
