Environmental Partnerships

The AbilityOne Program has partnered with other federal and nonprofit agencies that want to make it easy for federal customers to adhere to Executive Order 13101 and other environmental mandates. These partnerships help the AbilityOne Program learn how to make its products and services more environmentally preferable so federal customers can easily find a AbilityOne supplier to meet their needs.

Green Seal

Green Seal, a third-party, independent environmental standards setting nonprofit organization, reviewed the environmental claims of certain AbilityOne products, such as Easter Seals of Western Pennsylvania's DayMax Calendar refills, Seattle Lighthouse for the Blind's business cards, and paper napkins and towels from the New Orleans Lighthouse for the Blind, LC Industries, and LCI-Signature Works. All paper products passed the rigorous inspection and became certified environmental products under the pilot.

General Services Administration

In coordination with the General Services Administration (GSA), AbilityOne conducted a review of its paper office supplies included on the Comprehensive Procurement Guidelines (CPG) list. The review was conducted to ensure that these offerings meet recycled content requirements according to the Recovered Materials and Advisory Notice (RMAN) issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and in compliance with Executive Order 13101 requirements.
