Training Program in Environmental Toxicology This interdisciplinary program emphasizes the molecular aspects of toxicology. Graduate students in the training program obtain degrees through the Departments of Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Chemistry, Pathology, or Pharmacology. Graduate students are recruited into the Department of Chemistry through departmental mechanisms. In the other four biomedical departments, graduate students are initially recruited into the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program. The initial year of support is provided by the institution, and graduate students are recruited into the Toxicology Program from the first year student pool. The faculty is drawn from individuals with appointments in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Chemistry, Medicine, Pathology, and Pharmacology affiliated with the Center for Molecular Toxicology. Major research areas in the Center include enzyme oxidation and conjugation, oxidative damage, DNA damage and mechanisms of mutagenesis, regulation of gene expression, and neurotoxicology.
