Who Is At Risk for Lymphocytopenia?
People at highest risk for lymphocytopenia are affected by one of the diseases, conditions, or factors that can lead to a low lymphocyte count. This includes people who have:
- AIDS or other infectious diseases
- Autoimmune disorders
- Blood cancers or other blood diseases
- Certain inherited diseases or conditions
People at highest risk also include those who have had steroid therapy or radiation or chemotherapy (treatments for cancer). For more information, see "What Causes Lymphocytopenia?"
