Dr. Michael A. Candreva, a Commander in the United States Public Health Service, is the Chief Clinical Consultant in Optometry for the Indian Health Service. He began practice in the Northern Plains after completing a Hospital-Based Public Health Residency Program at Northern Navajo Medical Center in Shiprock, NM. For the past ten years, Dr. Candreva has been a practicing optometrist at the Standing Rock Indian Hospital in Fort Yates, North Dakota. During his time there he developed and established an accredited Hospital-Based Optometry Residency Program.
