Education
The Turtle Mountain Community College, currently a two year junior college, has recently broken ground for a new college. We are hoping that in the near future we can make this a four year college. There are currently five departments of study in operation at the college: arts and humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and math, vocational education, and health and physical education.
The college also serves as a resource for private individuals. The college has a GED program in full force and this year also started its own Vocational Rehabilitation Program. The college offers various courses which pertain to our own culture and heritage. Many of the teachers and staff are local Native Americans. They have helped to train BIA workers and the staff of many other agencies in the use of computers, have given classes in welding and building trades, etc. -- helping local businesses with their growth and development by providing a skilled workforce.
